Overview

We offer short term residencies at Anam Valley Cottages throughout the Winter months. This is traditionally a time to reflect, rest and prepare for the year ahead. In keeping with the natural rhythm of the seasons, we hope this time spent close to nature and away from the busyness of modern life will provide the space for new insights and ideas to take root. Whatever your needs or area of interest, we hope that these residencies will assist you in your growth.

Accommodation & Workspace

Residencies are hosted in The Cottage. A converted stone farm building with open plan design. There is a fully equipped kitchen / living area with wood burning stove and a toilet / shower room downstairs. The mezzanine double bedroom is accessed by a ladder staircase and there is also a double sofa bed downstairs. Residents are required to bring what they need for their creative practice or research project, including art materials and personal computers. There is a high speed wifi connection onsite. If there are additional materials or resources you need, please contact us in advance to know if we have them available or where and how you can source them.

Access

The residencies are located in The Black Valley, on an extremely remote 1200 acre hill farm in the highest mountain range in Ireland, The McGillycuddy Reeks. Our nearest neighbour is 2km away and nearest town of Killarney 28km. It is recommended that you have your own means of transport if you plan to explore the surrounding areas as there is no public transport available. We are happy to provide a pick up and drop off service from the nearest airport or train/bus station.

We offer our residency accommodation for free as a way to give back to the community and support the pursuit of knowledge and creativity. How to apply for your residency?

Please send enquiries for residencies to info.anamvalley@gmail.com along with your preferred dates, an expression of interest (max 1x A4 page) and if possible some examples of your work. Residency places are limited so advance application is recommended.
